How do I update my theme files to a secure https connection?

When you turn on SSL encryption on your forms their url changes from http:// to https://. This means that the data that travels from your form to your secure account is encrypted.

If you have created custom themes for your forms in the past you might have used the files hosted on unsecure servers and these files are now in conflict with your secure https forms.

The files you might have used to create your themes are:

  • Background image (link url or upload image)
  • Button image (link url or upload image)
  • Logo image (link url or upload image)
  • CSS file (link url)

Editing Themes

To edit files used in your themes, click on Theme in your form’s dashboard, then Create New.

This will take you to Theme Builder and you will be offered these 3 options:

Edit_Existing_Theme.png

Choose Edit Existing Theme and then select the theme you need to update.

Background Image

When the selected theme loads you can change its Background Image by clicking on Backgrounds > Wallpaper > Custom Pattern.

Custom Pattern option will ask you if you want to:

  1. Enter URL
  2. Upload Image File
  3. Choose From Existing Images.

The easiest option for you is to Upload Image File because our servers are secure and you don’t have to worry about content conflict.

Choose From Existing is similar since you’re using the files you uploaded previously.

However, if you choose to Enter URL the files you link via URL must be hosted on secure servers that serve content via https connection. Make sure that the image url starts with https://.

Button

Same as with background, the issue with button happens when you link http button url to your form’s theme.

To update Button Image — click on Buttons > Image > Change Button Image.

Change Button Image will ask you if you want to Enter URL, Upload Image File, or Choose From Existing Images.

The easiest option is to Upload Image File because our servers are secure and you don’t have to worry about content conflict.

Choose From Existing uses the files you uploaded previously.

With Enter URL you need to make sure that the file you link to is hosted on secure servers that serve content via https connection. Image url must start with https://.

Logo

Did you host your logo image on a server and linked it to your theme?

Please check if your logo image url starts with http://.

If it does, this means that the connection with the server where your logo is hosted is not SSL encrypted. Safe forms are encrypted with SSL and have https:// connection. All files used by safe forms must be encrypted.

To update your Logo, click Logo > Your Logo > Change Custom Logo.

Same as with background and button you can choose between Enter URL, Upload Image File, or Choose From Existing Images.

The same rules apply to updating logo (please refer to the instructions above).

Custom CSS

In case you’re using your own CSS file for the custom look of your theme, it needs to be hosted on a secure server.

To change the link to your CSS file, click on Advanced, select Link then enter new https URL of your file.

Don’t forget to save your Theme when you finish updating images and files.

Alternatively, simply upload the CSS file within the Theme Builder.

To upload the CSS file, click on Advanced, select Upload, click on the Upload CSS file button then select the CSS file. Click on the Save This Theme button.
